Account & Data Deletion
Last updated: 18 July 2026
In short: you can delete your PairNook account and its
associated data at any time, right from the app — or by emailing us if you
can no longer access the app. Deletion is permanent.
Delete your account from the app
- Open PairNook and go to the Us tab (your profile and couple settings).
- Scroll to Account and choose Delete account.
- Confirm when prompted. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Once confirmed, your account is scheduled for deletion and you are signed
out on your devices.
Delete your account without the app
If you can't access the app — for example, you've removed it from your
device or lost access to your account — you can still request deletion:
- Email support@pairnook.com
from the email address associated with your account, with the subject
“Account deletion request.”
- We'll verify that the request comes from the account owner and then process the deletion.
- We'll confirm by email once your account and associated data have been deleted.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove:
- Your account record, including your email address and password hash.
- Your display name and avatar.
- Your push notification tokens.
- Your couple linkage to your partner.
- Your end-to-end encrypted chat content and media held on our servers.
Because this content is end-to-end encrypted, it is unreadable to us before
deletion and is removed during deletion.
- Your Life items (to-dos, groceries, reminders, notes, calendar entries,
and expenses). These are stored readable on our servers by design
— see the Privacy Policy — and are removed during deletion.
- Your encrypted key backup and the escrowed copy of your recovery key.
- Assistant-request metadata associated with your account.
What may be retained, and for how long
Deletion takes effect promptly, and backups and copies are purged on our
regular backup cycle (typically within 30 days). We may retain a minimal set
of records for longer where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention
purposes — for example, to comply with a legal obligation. Any such records
are kept only as long as necessary and then deleted.
Note that content shared with your partner's device may continue to exist
on their device or account until they delete it, since each person
holds their own copy of an end-to-end encrypted conversation.
